RACHEL LEE HOVNANIAN



Rachel Lee Hovnanian grew up in Mexico, Texas and New York. While living in Mexico she became influenced by painter Diego Rivera. Hovnanian grew up surrounded by the avant garde world of painting. As a child her parents took her to visit the studios of their New York School artist friends, Balcomb Greene, Robert Gwathmey, and Janice Biala. Hovnanian studied under Charles Umlauf at the University of Texas at Austin where she received her B.F.A. She continued her studies in New York City at The National Academy of Design under Wolf Kahn.
